Our Top 7 Skincare resolutions for you

As skin therapists, we are kind of like a personal trainer for your skin. With every session, we whip your skin into shape and explain how to take care of it when we’re not around.

1. Serum is your friend

If you’ve been using the same moisturizer since high school, not noting that skin changes with time, you need to update your regime. Add some products with kick-ass active serum can really start changing things underneath the surface. We recommend Vitamin A serum ie Cosmedix Seum 16  or Ultraceuticals Skin Perfecting Serum to  promote the production of collagen, refine the pores and accelerate our cell turnover.

2. Never leave the house without applying SPF.

SPF in your foundation alone is not sufficient to protect against our harsh NZ rays.If it’s the only thing that you do for your skin. It really is the best skincare product on the market and often the most inexpensive product in your regime. Not only will it prevent pigmentation, burst capillaries and uneven skin tone it will prevent large pores and saggy skin by preventing the breakdown of collagen from sun exposure.

3. Use Eyecream

The first place to show signs of aging as skin is the thinnest. Use Skin Medica Dermal eye cream as this luxurious eye treatment cream is formulated with patented growth factor peptides, high concentrations of antioxidant vitamins C, E and Hyaluronic Acid . These potent ingredients improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and minimize appearance of dark circles

4. Eat well

Limit processed food, refined sugars and avoid eating too much wheat or dairy.

Eat fermented foods and take a probiotic to promote gut health.

Limit alcohol consumption and try and drink at least two litres of water a day.

Swap coffee for herbal tea.

5. Exercise those facial muscles

We have 600 muscles in the body and 40+ in the face with the exact same physiology. Get skin fit by lifting and toning those facial muscles by having regular facials. It’s not a guilty pleasure, sporadic indulgence, or ‘beauty treatment’. Just like your body, your facial skin needs regular workouts to stay healthy and look its best!

6. Stop picking at your skin

Don’t spread those bacteria as it only leaves you with scars that will take longer to heal.

7. Exfoliate regularly

Gentle exfoliants and retinol help turnover our cells to get rid of dullness. This will also allow your other products to penetrate and give you better results. In clinic facial peels can also help to enhance and smooth the texture of the skin, exfoliating the outer layers of dead skin, and minimising the appearance of blemishes and uneven skin pigmentation.
